I couldn't fall asleep last night, I was so wound up. Finally ended up putting on my Bowery Electric CD, which always clears my head and relaxes me, and conked out by track 2. Got a glorious ten hours of sleep and a wonderful shower and am back at the office, full of energy. On my way to work, I saw a group of high school students march on the sidewalk carrying protest signs. I watched them pass, giving them a peace sign and ringing the bell on my bike, smiling all the way.
You may recall that on Wednesday I was trying to decide whether it was right for us to take direct action or not. Well, a quote from an article in the Chronicle really brought it home for me:
"I don't think it's shameful to go to work and support America," Hornbacher said. "What are they doing today?"
I realized that it is shameful to support a country that ignores international opinion, starts illegitimate wars, and kills innocent civilians in the process. And that is exactly what we were trying to prevent.
