on addiction

cypherpunk95's in town, and we had 20-some-odd people at my house last night as a result. I was talking to Dave (who came to my house!) and he told me he switched to caffeine free coke. He said he noticed that he'd finish a two-litre bottle of regular coke and he'd feel tense and his leg would start twitching. As I was making coffee this morning, I thought to myself that I couldn't remember the last time I didn't feel tense and twitchy, but I'm pretty sure the next thing I did was get myself some coffee.

Well, that was something I was unprepared for. We practiced our presentation a couple of times, were all set, and then about 5 minutes into our talk, we hear a "click" and the projector goes out. Never to come on again. We adapted as best we could, but explaining crypto without any symbols on the display is never all that easy. And then we had to do our demo in interpretive dance (almost). But we did get lots of questions, so all's well that ends well.
